My Heart for Brown Girl Shine!
This ministry was birthed through prayer to uplift the shared experiences of women of color—particularly black and brown women—who have thrived in predominantly white spaces. Unafraid to step into uncharted waters, we navigate the unique challenges of our ethnicity and gender with resilience. Yet the challenges become heavy at times.
The vision for Brown Girl Shine was born from the need for Gospel-centered spaces where women of color feel understood, encouraged, and affirmed. These spaces provide a foundation for healing, a celebration of our stories, and a renewed hope in Christ.
We are creating a community that acknowledges the unique journeys of women of color in faith and culture while inviting others to lean in, listen, and ally with us in the pursuit of equality.
I love the local church and pray that Brown Girl Shine helps women of color, who may feel unheard by Western Christianity, to shine brightly for Christ rather than turning to secular sources and other faiths for healing from racial traumas.
Let’s rise and shine!
