Season 1 Synopsis
Season 1 of Brown Girl Shine is dedicated to the “Lies We Believed.” As women of color immersed in a majority culture context, there were many things we were either taught or caught that made our journeys tougher. Journey with us through those lessons.

SEASON 1 EPISODES:
Episode 1: Skin or Sin
We’ve all heard the saying: “Racism is a sin issue not a skin issue.” In this episode, we discuss the limitations of this saying and how it can be damaging.
Episode 2: These United States
We share about different well-meaning perspectives on unity perpetuated in the church and how those have both aided and harmed people of color.
Episode 3: The Great Race Debate
What is race? We’re digging into biblical concepts of race, ethnicity, and diversity and why it matters for the church and in our lives.

What are Gospel issues? Some say justice is a Gospel issue while others say it is not. The ladies discuss this concept and the different perceptions of it.
